Default Trip Computer Resets By Itself

Own a 2008 LR2 with 98,000 miles. Fantastic condition and cannot imagine ever letting it go. It has recently developed a problem where the trip computer on the dash totally resets all by itself. This includes the trip miles, distance to empty and average mileage. This is not a big deal to me unless it is a big deal to the LR2. I am asking the Land Rover Forum members to please help me determine if I can correct this, if so how and if this is something that is leading to a much bigger problem. I have searched the forum for this but did not really find what I thought was the issue. Yes, I am a new member but a long time lurker in the background. Thank you for the help.

That's a strange one. Should not really matter to the truck at all.

I would guess that module is loosing power for some reason

I have the same issue with my LR4 after taking it to a firestone dealer for oil service. Since they reset the service required message the LR4 resets itself on every start up.

The simple solution to resolve it was to reselect the Trip Computer from Auto to the trip A or B option on the cars menu.

Don't know the solution or heard of the issue before but I had the same thought as above re the losing com or power.

I do have a suggestion! Try a hard battery reset which includes, after removal from the battery of course, touch the positive and negative battery connections together. If you search the forum or sub forum, @merlinj79 has posted detailed instructions to do this procedure properly.

This is your basic procedure but be aware not to bridge the terminals on the battery itself, "disconnected the battery terminals, hold them together to perform a reset for about 3 mins or so, reconnected the battery terminals"

And in addition to @ThorInc suggestion, we just need to rule it out: You are certain that the trip computer is set to trip A or B, and not Auto??
