Question Where can I find 12v trigger for trailer brake controller?

I'm adding a trailer brake controller to my new to me, 2008 LR2. I need a 12V trigger when the brake pedal is depressed.
The switch at the brake pedal seemed to be a likely candidate, but it doesn't turn on the break lights. I suspect some CAN bus controller is using it to verify my foot's on the brake pedal before it let's me start the engine. I'm thinking the brake light switch is under the hood somewhere.
I'm not using the Land Rover trailer wiring module for the trailer lights. I'm using a splice in Tekonsha module from etrailer. It's working well and isn't interfering with the LR2's CAN bus modules (at least so far).
Is there anyone out there who's tried this? I'd like to avoid buying the Land Rover module if there's anyway around it. I'm assuming there some sort of brake controller integrated in their module.
Any help or hints would be greatly appreciated.

I found a harness at autozone that fit into the Defender female plug and it had the same four color wires running out of it so I butt crimped those together with the same color wires on the generic redarc cable, but I don’t get an led light when starting the car. Tried pushing the button, turned the ****, and nothing. I think I’m supposed to get a green and blue light even with trailer electronics hooked up, correct? The harness was for Lincoln and same cars as the 006 harness so I thought it would work. Anybody remember what color wires from the redarc went into which holes in the Defender plug?

Oops. Maybe spoke too soon. Held the button in for a few seconds and got a pulsing blue light. Maybe I did hook it up correctly?

I just wanted to post a thanks to this thread, I installed my RedArc Trailer brake controller last week just in time to pick up our new overland trailer. The comments here really made an easy install even easier!
