Where is coolant temp sensor located??? help
Hello everyone I need help finding the location of the coolant temperature sensor on my car so I can replace it. I have a 2013 land rover lr2 and its been overrheating sometimes when its in idle. Scanner tool at O reilys popped up with the numbers implying that its either the coolant temp sensor or thermostat. If anyone could help me out i would appreciate it sooo much thank you.
Check the diagram for your vehicle. You should see it connected to the thermostat housing. If it's possbile to access the ECT sensor by removing the passenger-side headlight, you might be able to reach in and replace it. That would be a lucky break.
If you need to remove the intake manifold for access, then you're better off replacing the entire thermostat & ECT sensor while you have that area opened up. A new thermostat might come bundled with the ECT installed, you need to check.
I'm assuming you really narrowed down the overheating problem to this component and it's not a bad cooling fan or something else.
Let us know how it turns out.
