'06 LR3 A/C Issues
The A/C in my LR3 sucks. I live in FL so it's kind of a big deal. Even after the truck is up to temperature, the A/C is lukewarm on full cold, recirculate on (it's a rear A/C model). I'm the third owner, and after I got the truck I found in one of the cubby holes in the back not one, but two of those cheap auto store A/C recharge hoses. I can see in the engine bay that at some point, someone loaded UV dye into the system and found a rather prolific leak at the union from the compressor to one of the hoses, but don't appear to have done anything to remedy it. That being said, it looks like an old leak that hasn't actually spit out anything new in a while. I'm betting they remedied it with one of those charge canisters that have a stop-leak inside but didn't bother to replace the hose or clean up the mess. Seeing all of this, I assumed my system was low on charge and borrowed a pressure gauge set from my local autozone to diagnose and possibly recharge. (I actually know the PO very well, I'll ask him and update this).
This is where it gets interesting. I hooked the gauges up and let the truck warm up, and the pressures are excellent, bordering on unbelievable. At 72° and 65% humidity, I got over 250 PSI high side, which leads me to believe it's not in fact a charge issue or even a pressure issue. It must lie elsewhere. That's when I noticed that my truck seems to be lacking a condenser fan. Could it really be this simple? I have a connector that hangs down behind the grille, but no fan is present. That being said, I can't find a mention of a condenser fan anywhere in the RAVE or for sale anywhere. What gives? Does the A/C in these trucks just suck? My D1 blew colder air than this thing, and it was 10 years older and way more badly abused.

I'll have to check - fan should spin faster with A/C on, right?
