Default 06 LR3 Open Diff and transfer case oil change

Hi every1
I will perform a diff and transfer case oil change. Any1 with experience could recommend what oil should I buy ? I checked some youtube videos and found these 2, Differential / Axle Oil 75W90R GL5 Fluid 4 5o 5 quarts and Swivel Housing Grease 370GM Bottle 2 quarts. Those are $129 on ebay.

What other brands of oil can I use ? My LR3 has open diff for front and rear. I got all the tools to drain it and refill

Hi there
I found these 2:
1st - SYNCHROMAX – MANUAL TRANSMISSION FLUID - link - https://frsport.com/royal-purple-015...8aAtP0EALw_wcB

2nd - Royal Purple Max-Gear Synthetic Gear Oil 01300 - link - https://www.summitracing.com/parts/r...IaAvfyEALw_wcB

Is the Max-Gear 75w90 or 70w90?

Somewhat related, so I will mention. Mostly for posterity sake because I had to do a lot of hunting to find the correct fluid. For those with locking rear diffs, the LR parts number was updated. The old LR part # LRN500070 cross-referenced Castrol SAF Carbon Mod Plus which is impossible to find. The new LR part # is LR019727 and cross-references Castrol Bot 720 - which is still difficult to find and fairly expensive at about $45/quart (I managed a source at $26/quart). There is also an AC Delco/GM fluid for certain vehicles that can be used, GM part # 92184900 - this is/was the Carbon Mod Plus repackaged. You need the proper fluid for the locking diff as it has carbon clutches and using regular fluid with slip additives is not recommended at all.

I just changed my fluids and I went with Ravenol in both diff's and the transfer case. I don't have much feedback though because I have driven less 500 miles since changing fluids.

I need to do my TC oil and thought i'd see if royal purple was available locally, it is but even accounting for the exchange rate it is more than double the price at $39.99 for just under 1ltr !

Does anyone know what the proper capacity is for a non-locking rear differential? I’ve seen some places calling for 1.18 liters / 2.49 US pints (approx. 1.245 quarts) and other mentioning 1.5 quarts or fill to the hole. Can you go wrong with either fill capacity?

thanks!!
Matt
