Default '06 vs '07 LR3 HSE

I have heard people say that there are less problems with the 07 versus the 06 LR3, can anyone confirm this? If I get an LR3 should spend the extra cash to get a 07 if they are more reliable? Any insight would be great, thanks.

Sorry you have not gotten any responses. I recently bought a 06 LR3 HSE with 32,000 miles on it. I test drove about 5 other 06 LR3's before getting this one. When I test drove it everything felt perfect. The interior looked like it was driven by One person, no kids, no pets. The service history print out from the dealer showed no unusual problems. The car just looked and felt right. I had had it for almost 3 months and have put over 5000 miles on it including steep and off camber off roading. It still drives better then any other pre owned that I test drove and I have had no serious problems to date. I think the reliability on a used vehicle is mostly determined by how the vehicle was maintained and cared for previously. For the money I am told that the 06 LR3 is the absolute best value.

Default LR3 purchase

I bought an 05 HSE last month after looking for awhile (and traded in my 2003 Discovery).

I capped what I wanted to spend at 31K, and looked at everything from 2005's to 2007's, SE and HSE. My target was a low miles 2006 model, but the _nicest_ one I found was the one I bought, which happened to be a 2005 HSE. Honestly I looked at some trucks that were on both dealer and other car lots that were beat the hell up... scratches inside everywhere, gashes in headliners, etc etc etc.

I do know that the 05's had alot of issues when new that were addressed by service campaigns ... and the one I bought had everything done (suspension compressor, updating software, etc etc etc)... Had it for 6 weeks not 1 problem other than my lab scratching the tailgate trying to jump over the lower tailgate.

the reliability/quality difference between an 06 and 07 are marginal at best... the one thing to consider is that the 07 may be closer to/still within its original warranty period.

What did you get for your Discovery? Did you trade it into a LR dealer? It does seem there are some good values out there with clean, low mileage 05's, but the warranty is up on most, did you buy an extended?

Default Disco and Warranty

The 05 LR3 I got was CPO... so it has the warranty for another 11 months.

I traded in my Disco to the LR dealer... 2003 Disco SE (vienna green with alpaca inside) with 72K (still also under CPO warranty until 75K)... and the dealer gave me 10K for it. To be fair it was in super nice shape. Another LR dealer wanted to only give me 5K for the Disco. Carmax said they'd give me 4K for the disco. Yikes.

10k? Wow! I have 87k on my 03 SE and am afraid I'm looking at around 5k trade-in. i would take 9k or 10k in a second. It's in good shape, I just want an 06 LR3 HSE with a warranty. It appears CPO may be the way to go in the long run
