went from a 2006 LR3 to a 2010 LR4. Both HSE w/ HD and LUX packages. A few comments about the change.
Still not a big fan of the headlights, the "ropelight" signature lamps look cheap and unfinshed. The LR4's adaptive lights do not do the little "ballet" to aim themselves true, they just turn on, nothing special.
Radio does not show the volume level in a numeric form. Really not important, but would be nice to see numeric number.
This thing MSRP @ $63k and the passenger seat does not have lumbar support. However the seats are very comfortable.
Left knee rubs on the corner of the door pull. Nothing bad, just an annoyance on long trips and while off road.
Instrument cluster gauges are not as classy as LR3 and harder to read. The speedo looks more at home in a low end economy car. Could use more hash marks to make it look more like a citizen watch instead of a swatch. The fuel gauge was better as an analog gauge instead of the digital bar gauge.
Brake pedal feel is soft and spongy for the fist press, but the following press it is still and stops on a dime.
The power from the new engine is amazing! You can really see and feel the extra power.
LR3 has better dash/console storage. The LR3 had a mat under the sat/nav sreen, LR4 has nice looking, but useless woodtrim. Cener console is the same way.
Outside of these minor "glitches" the LR4 is an amazing change.
One otherthing. On the SAT/NAV screen, the icon that shows you your curren tlocation (blue triangle) constantly blinks/flashes for no reason.
found out on 06/09/2010 LR4 did not come w/ factory installed roof mounted roof rails. My fault, I overlooked it when I bought the LR4, just assumed they were standard....Still though...This LR4 is amazing!!
This engine and suspension combo is far better than the LR3. The power band and smoothness is not even close.
