Default 08 LR3 SE - good value?

I'm looking at a 2008 LR3 SE, 50k miles, no NAV. Dealer is asking $26,900 - how does that stack up?

This would be my first LR - anything I should be paying close attention to with this model?

Thanks!

I'm impressed. I paid $1750 for a running D1. Same mud. But I'm told that folks in the countryside of CT buy LR4's for the nanny to drive the offspring to school. To each his own.

We always tell guys to get an indy mehanical inspection. If you are getting a warranty from the dealer (or negotiate that into the price) that would be good. Here is the service list for that vehicle from their shop manual, would want to be sure all services were up to date or exceeded. Certainly fluid services to differentials, ETM/transfer case, transmission, radiator. I'm not a fan of "lifetime" or "ten year" fluids. Do you want to wait ten years to find out fluid was contaminated? We have had posts of fellows just out of the 50K warranty with differential problems.

Don't plan on this driving like a BMW or getting the mpg of a Prius. It is about 5800 pounds.

Thanks - I'm just up the road from you in Charleston.

Vehicle is actually near Charlotte, NC; any recommendations for a pre-purchase inspection? I contacted this group (BMW Land Rover Volvo Audi Mercedes | European Auto Repair Charlotte NC), who said they'd do it for $65.

This car would be for the wife/kids; I drive a '97 4WD Tahoe, so I'm certainly not used to my vehicles sipping gas.

Just for comparision, 4 weeks ago I picked up a '06 HSE with just shy of 70K miles for $21,000. Southern California area.

$26,900 seems a tad high based on miles and options, but OK based on year?

Remember, it is called "Charlotte" for a reason - large population of "charlatans".
