Whereas the LR3 was factory filled with conventional oil, upgrading to a compatible synthetic is an improvement.
As for Castrol, I'd argue Edge Extended Performance is closer to Profesional OE, the synthetic used by Land Rover, because it includes Fluid Titanium Technology.

For the past 5 years I have been using this
Valvoline 5W30 Synthetic MaxLife Oil API SN
Change it every 5,000 because I'm part sheep
No issues, no burning of oil at 5k. 112k miles on 07 LR3 HSE

Kirkland synthetic for my old beast. I'll probably change it at 5-6K or fall and spring.
I always wondered about the value of oil analysis. The cost of the analysis pretty much matches the cost of the oil, so i'm inclined to change it.
