Default 17" steel wheels on an LR3?

*edit: did some more HW...
ok ok ok, i'm ruling out 16's, so let's change this to 17"

...before you all say it, yes I know these come with 18"+ and there is caliper clearance concerns, but has anyone done it or actually tried?

I'm not one to shy away from a little modification or adaptation...
I find it hard to believe a 17" won't fit.

I'm seeing now lucky8 offers a 17" but it's unclear of if it requires a spacer on an HSE.
are there ANY other 17's people have got to work?

I want an aggressive offset anyways...and the ability to run a standard 32" M/T tire like I do on my DII, so I plan on running the same set-up after a leg lift.

please advise on REAL WORLD attempts/experience/test-fits/numbers you may have or seen...likes and wheel specs appreciated.

thanks!

Check with L8, I'm not sure if it requires a spacer or not, but they'll tell you what's needed. Lots of folks are running the 17"'s I have yet to hear a complaint.

The best bet is to give them a call, you can't go wrong.

yup, have an email in.
I can never get them on the phone in the past.

was hoping there were other options...the pricing is a lot for a steel wheel, but it may just be the price I pay.

From past reading unless you have the v6 LR3 16's will not clear the calipers.

Adam, I'm curious why not just go with 18s if your real objective is simply to run a 32" tire? Of course you get less sidewall but at least you won't have to change your brakes/rotors or run any funky offset/spacers.

Anyway my question is not rhetorical, why not 18s?

Our 17's are created with the proper backspacing required to fit a larger/wider tire.

Erik, the OP didn't state a desire to go larger than 32" and an OE 18" LR rim can fit that with a few MT/R (type) choices. So that is why I was asking the question of him.

what does proper offset even mean? that's pretty subjective, and as mentioned I want one a bit aggressive.

and I want it for not only use of more sidewall, but cost & aesthetics. never liked the looks of skinny sidewall 4x4's...I'm a 16" guy. plus 18" mudders are not cheap.

wnyerikdiscoii, link/contact about those 17's?
