Default 2 cans of PlastiDip, some tape and an hour to kill....

I’ve been wanting to black the middle of my hood (bonnet!) for awhile. So, went to OSH last night to grab some things for the house and came across some PlastiDip. I’ve use it before with great success.

Took a few minutes to clean the hood and tape off the area. I also popped the plastic push grommets to lower the hood liner and popped out the washer nozzles.
It’s a pain to get off the overspray, so I used paper to mask off the 12 inches around the center of the hood.

I just followed the natural creases in the hood and carefully used a razor blade after peeling the tape to clean up the edges and put a gentle curve in the corners.

I hasn’t completely dried yet, so, it may look a bit blotchy. I did the letter while I was doing it as they were pretty scratched up.

I wasn’t keen on paying $80-90 for a good 3M vinyl. We’ll see how it holds up...

Nice job, looks great! My D2 needs it there since the clear coat is failing; it's been on the list for a while..

The smooth/semi glossy patches haven’t changed. I’ll try to gently scuff it up or spay a light coating in those areas (hope there’s enough left in the cans).
Probably sprayed too heavily.
Driving around today, I’m happy with the outcome.

Spent a little time in the Front Runners showroom in Calabasas. Man, that place is dangerous!
