Default 2005 LR3 HSE Not starting

Hey All,

I have a 2005 LR3 HSE with 130k on it. Was running great until the other day and then just died on me. I've since done a bunch of testing and I am able to get the truck running with starting fluid, but it will not start by itself. I verified that I have 65psi at the rail while cranking, so I believe the injectors are not pulsing. Does anyone know what would cause the injectors to not pulse? Could my fuel pump be bad even though it's reading 65psi? Also, I have replaced the crank sensor for good measure (worst case if it didn't work is that I have a spare) and the results are the same.

Thanks in advance,
Sean

Im just tossing this out here, because I actually dont know with the LR3. But on any other car I have worked on prior to the LR3, the crank sensor dictates spark while the cam sensors dictate fuel. Meaning if a cam sensor fails, no fuel but you can still get spark.

Are you sure you have a good consistent 65 PSI at the fuel rail? Sounds like textbook fuel pump.

My AutoEnginuity scanner says 65psi, as well as a mechanical fuel pressure gauge connected to the schrader valve. At this point I wish it was a fuel pump lol. I'm going to check a couple spark plugs to see if they are wet with fuel. What confuses me is that I can get it to fire briefly with starting fluid.

I pulled a couple plugs last night and verified that they are wet with fuel. After cleaning these ones off, I then checked for spark and verified that I also have spark.
My next step is to pull all plugs and clean them up (they are about 6 months old). Will update thread after that happens.

You said it starts with starter fluid though?

Quick update: I bought a noid light kit and checked pulse at the injectors again (the right way). It starts out with a strong light, then it gets dimmer and dimmer until I see no light. Roughly 5 seconds of cranking. I'm guessing my ECU may be toast? What about the Immobilizer??

@ArmyRover - yes I am able to get it to briefly fire with starting fluid.

I welcome any thoughts or suggestions.

Are you getting any stored voltage faults when you run the scanner?

Update: Decided to have it towed to a LR specialty shop. As the tow truck driver was loading it he asked me what was wrong. I told him it just died on me shortly after filling up. He mentioned something about a local gas station pumping diesel out of the premium pump a couple weeks ago. That's exactly when I had the issue. Thinking this is my issue, but will update after I hear back from the shop.

One more thing, I developed a tranny leak after this happened (maybe from the pan). Truck never dropped a lick before this happened. Could trying to start the LR3 without it running build up pressure in the tranny and cause the leak? Going from zero leak to a very big leak has me worried.

Thanks

It's so disappointing when there's no resolution posted.
