I recently purchased a 2006 LR3 and noticed when I turn sharply in reverse my right front tire is rubbing. Could someone tell me if the part of the frame in the attached photo is supposed to stick out as in the photo? I noticed on the left front it is flush.
If 2006 that should be a bolt on part. Did you do the logical thing and compare sides to see if one seems bent? I doubt they could even bend though, so my guess would indeed be oversized tires since I dont think the alignment can be so out of spec on these that there would be rubbing.
It definitely looks like a bolt-on part. I did compare it to the driver side and it is flush, so it possible it was bent from a previous owner as I have not taken it off-road yet.
Be glad its bolt on, later years they were not. So if you have to modify if, its easy to do. I am not sure why that part is even there, I think it incase of catastrophic wheel failure/accident. Maybe keeps the wheel from going into the body. So you may be able to remove em and leave them off.
