Pages from the shop manual. You can download the whole thing for free in my signature links. Looks like there is more to it than in the older trucks.

If you need to replace the starter it can be done without disconnecting the ball joints. The starter is located on the passenger side of the vehicle. What I did was jack up left side of vehicle and place a 6 ton jackstand under the frame near the front. Remove front passenger wheel and the disc brake rotor covers. I am unsure if I removed the rotor/caliper itself. Then with the front hub hanging free place a jack under it and slightly compress the suspension. This will allow you access to remove the wiring harness and the two bolts to the starter. Be aware that you are placing your arm in a lightly loaded suspension. It could get pinched if the jack failed. Using this work around I was able to replace the starter in under an hour. A surprisingly easy job.

Safety first, extra supports to keep the compressed parts from escaping and your name changing to "Stubby". Read Murphy's Law, section 235.67 (a) - the mindless machine has no mercy...

Good point. I forgot to add that I had a smaller 2.5T jackstand on the control arm in case my jack moved. Also disconnect battery so the rig doesn't decide to self level with your arms in there..
