Oh, nice Don....so THAT's what my next set of tires will look like on my LR3!

That beast is gonna eat the Rubicon Trail. When is that trip again?

Very nice. So you leave your rods on all the time? I would like to get some but what happens to your access height? will it just be what normal height is without rods? Did you need an alignment after install?

Like the steps too. You install them or are they factory?

Last weekend, and not a lot of eating. I broke the AutoZone CV axle I put in a couple days earlier as soon as I started working the truck hard. Plus my winch solenoid gave up the ghost and with it buried inside that ARB bumper I can't easily access it for troubleshooting. Hope to get to both issues Saturday.

Plenty of snow on the trail though. Camped at Wentworth Springs - the drive in after dark cutting fresh tracks in 1-2' was occasionally a challenge.

My lift rods stay on the truck at all times. It's my woods beater, not my daily. Access height is the old normal height. Off road height is now extended - extended mode is well, strangely, even taller.

Absolutely need an alignment after the install. I used a IID tool to do the "Tight tolerances mode" for the suspension and let a place do it. Some places won't touch these trucks since they're fancy... Same thing used to happen with my Mercedes. You can luck out like I did and know an old guy at a Sears tire center that's not just a young fool...

As for the steps, they were factory, and are currently laying in my scrap pile.

I'll get it sorted and back on the trail soon enough. I've got about a month to deal with it then we have another snow run at Bald Mountain at the beginning of February. Nothing like the Rubicon, but if the weather holds up it'll be a major snow-run. May have to see how low I can go on these tires to float the LR3's big 'ol butt.

I'm about to hit some snow next week myself...but I'm on stock-sized Nokians for that. The Hakkas are dam (sic) impressive tires.

Agreed! Best snows money can buy in my opinion!

I have never actually had a set of honest-to-God snows. My old Duratracs did quite well on the snow (better than the new Coopers actually) but nothing like a Haka I'm sure. I do have a buddy in Jackson Hole who runs studs on his F350 in the winter and it's virtually unstoppable even with his sled trailer behind it. Well, nearly unstoppable....we did get it stopped at one point.

Here is what I know: I've observed MT/Rs do better than Duratracs (both on LR3s). I've seen Cooper Zeons do not-so-great in deep snow (yours truly)....and the Hakas are the first honest-to-God snow tires I have ever had as well...mostly bought them because I was heading to the Yukon but also I can get away with it since I have MT/Rs on the 18s. Anyhow...amazing...just downright amazing on packed snow and ice (far better than the MT/Rs) and also up to about, idk, 12-18" of snow. After that, the MT/Rs do better since they dig and have deeper tread.
