Default 4.4 V8 One Qt Extra in Oil Change..problem ?

Hi..took LR3 SE V8 4.4 in for oil change Royal Purple and noticed car sounded after two days of driving, like engine was exhaling, and felt like I was driving a lighter car. Checked oil it was well above max..appears they put in all 9 qts instead of 8 that is required.
Took it back today and they removed excess oil.
Am I going to have damaged seals here ..frothing of the oil issue ?
Many thanks.

Did you confirm that they put in 9 quarts or was this based on your above max determination? Speaking of that, did you check the oil on flat ground while the engine was cold or had it been running prior?

Default I'm wrong.

Not an extra quart..I assumed containers were 3 qt each..The containers are 5 qt so maybe as much as 2 Qts over. On the dip stick it looked like 2" inches over max

So I assume you handed the shop two 5qt jugs to use, and they proceeded to empty the contents of both into your engine?
A shop not even taking 5 seconds to look up the oil capacity spec? Sheesh.

I don't know what damage there may or may not be, but seems they should be fully liable for any.

Speaking of capacity, when I change my own oil, I can't even blindly pour 8qt (7.7l) in - first time I did that, resulted in overfilling a bit above the max line.
Now I stop at 7qt or so, then check level and fill to mid mark - but it is never all 8qt.

(FYI: The difference between min and max on the dipstick = 1.6qt (1.5l)

Good luck!

Thanks ..I tell them to use Royal Purple synthetic as it's better for high milage engines they say and I have it done every 4000-5000 miles so they get it from the local Auto place and it's 5 qt containers. They know it's 8 qts to fill I'm just guessing they dropped the whole thing in as for last year since the shortage of cars they are so overly busy and are constantly bombarded by people as his pricing is a little less and work excellent. To get anything done he is often there after hours and on Sundays where he can peacefully work.I just hope this little mistake and us driving over filled like that for two days has not damaged seals. We need this car : (

Seals would not get damaged, the bearings would. Too much oil causes foaming as the main crank splashed into it and the result is foamy oil gets pumped around, since its mixed with air the lubrication suffers assuming the pump can even pick it up properly to being with - think hole in straw sorta effect. But the 4.4 does have a deep sump setup for extreme angles when transversing trails, so it is pretty tolerant to low/high levels of oil - just not at constant higher RPMs of course.
