Default Air compressor manufacturer ?

Sorry to post this because I'm sure in some thread somewhere this is referenced but looks like its time for yet another compressor. Car lowered completely this week and gave me the whole "suspension fault" , 30 mph top speed stuff. (Although after letting her rest she hasn't done it again). Felt like I was driving over boulders at 100 mph. Anyway, i heard there is a new manufacture of the compressor that might be slightly better than the old one. Anyone know the name of the new manufacturer so I don't buy a new but older wabco one?

Neither of them are wabco on the LR3.

The old one is hitachi, but I don't think it says it anywhere on it.

The new one is AMK.

To update to the new one, you need an upgraded relay and a software update on the ride level control module.

I found one at a wrecking yard in Wisconsin. I found it on Car-Parts.com. It came off of a 2011 LR4 with very low miles. Shop around. Got it for $140 shipped. Pretty simple install, the quick-release air hoses were the only hang up. After messing with them for 20 minutes, I gave them a shot of we-40 and they pulled right out. The other option is changing the air canister. Save yourself a cool grand. There are also some remanufactured units on ebay from a place in Santa Ana, California. They were about $330 plus or minus. Good luck. Phil

Bear in mind that if you have currently got a Hitachi compressor on your LR3 and you replace it with an AMK from salvage that the pipes don't line up. When you buy they AMK kit for a LR3 there is a package of bendy pipes in the box to join the dots back up ;-) There probably is a LR part number for it/them but just wanted to save you some head scratching...or worse.
