lr3 rear side window defrost
So the great ice apocalypse hit the Austin area today for the second time in a month. But last night I left the lr3 out. It is a new to me lr3 for about two months now so I am still learning. I have searched the board and could not find much on the rear side window not defrosting. i have the cold weather package and the front windshield, rear window and side mirrors all defrost, but the rear side windows do not. You can see the heating elements that run through them. I have not had a chance to run through the fuses yet. but if that the case and someone knows what fuse to look for please let me know. I already have one to replace for the windshield washer fluid.
Any help on this would greatly be appreciated.
Still missing the F250 a little. I would not have this problem on it, but then again it did not have this feature.

Those are not heating elements, what you see is two antennas built into a side window.Right hand side has a FM antenna and left(driver side) has a TV antenna , there are also a antenna lines built into rear screen as well, within a heating element.

The driver and front passenger have dual climate control (up to 4*C or 7*F different from left to right) and the rear passengers have a control located above the centre console (between the first and second sunroof). The rear control can be set with a button on the dash (directly below the front passenger temperature/heated seat control) to three modes.
1 - Auto - sets it automatically to achieve desired temperature or fastest defrost (rear heat/AC/fan according to driver's dash controls)
2 - Manual - passes control to the rear passengers by using the roof mounted controls
3 - Off - the rear heat/AC unit is off
Be sure your rear blower is on (not switched off, fuse ok, blower motor hasn't quit). Be sure the vents in front of and below the windows are not closed or blocked. **Actually, I am not sure if the louvres below the windows are vents for defrost or not. ??? The floor level vent for the rear blower is on the left (driver) side lower trim panel - behind row 2, near the floor/seat of row 3. Be sure the vent is clear of things like clothing, shopping bags, blanket, etc.
If no power at rear blower check fuse 22 (30 amp Green) in engine bay.

thanks for the info, i have used all of the functions of the cold weather package the last few days. But after the 3 turned into an ice cube the other night i was wondering why the rear windows would not defrost, with a heating element in it.
thanks again for the explanation. and don't worry there will be more useless questions to come.

That is funny! I had looked at those wires on the side windows and thought why did Land Rover feel the need to defrost the side windows, so the dog can see out??... It did not occur to me that there wasn't a radio antenna on the rig.
Which brings the next question, if we have no TV installed and no need for that antenna then can a Ham radio be wired into that antenna and utilize it?
Knowing enough about radio frequencies I would venture a guess and say no but not knowing for sure I had to ask.
What about useing an antenna coupler to interface with this antenna? Maybe a new thread is in order...
