Air suspension, Voyager sliders and Pan American Highway
I installed the voyager rock sliders with suspension compressor and tank guard. Love them!! Great bit of kit!! However, I have compressor that takes over 3 minutes to fill the tank and has a mount that I haven’t seen before. The bottom bolts touch the slider protection so good time to think about changing out the compressor as putting together to drive the Pan American Highway ar some point. What would be the recommendation? Any suggestions appreciated. Thx
I am a Hitachi compressor guy through and through....Love em. But my current install is an Arnott, the only aftermarket one I would trust. AMK are fine too and the Arnott is a copy of the AMK -sorta. So I had to look to be sure.... but something is weird and I dont have the knowledge to say its wrong, but looking at that compressor and it is, well, wrong. Same for the mounting plate. I dont recall seeing that exact setup, ever. Below is a pick of a normal AMK compressor. Notice the large aluminum mounting plate. This is what I am using to seeing. Also note how on yours the dryer/output is inboard but on the one below it is outbaord. It is like the compressor you have has its dryer and motor reversed. And that mounting plate its is on, I dont recall seeing that before. I can only think this might be an original to truck AMK but an very early version? Need folks with more knowledge to confirm that theory.
edit: On a site note, I prefer the AMK mounting plate. The Hitachi cast metal ones can break if hit hard where are the AMK one can flex and bend but likely not snap off.

It looks like I have Arnott compressor P2645. I’m not sure how simple it is to go back to the hitachi. I have the Gap but I’m wondering what the did to the original fittings to put in the Arnott.
Ah, okay. Had to look that one up. Weird its stamped AMK in the metal. It is not a hard switch. In fact Amazon has a genuine Hitachi in the warehouse for $200, which is a good deal for a new one. Fitting it should not be an issue, you may have to modify the inlet/exhaust line a little but that can be done with push connects and standard metric hoses. They contain no pressure.
@DakotaTravler I think you've helped me solve my problem and puzzle. When I look closely at your picture nad mine it really looks like the two compressors are the same and just my mounting plate is different. Where did you pull that compressor photo from? What is the part or model number? I am putting together for the Pan American so a spare compressor was on my parts list. So, if I either find a mounting plate such as in your picture and I just change mounting plates for the time being. or, buy the whole kit and have a spare compressor for the trip. Another issue is mine does not have a cover and why I thought it Arnott was that there is talk about the Arnott's not making a cover. I'll see if the kit in your photo comes with cover.
