Nice....really interesting to see this get installed. Next we need someone with RS Sliders to install that new Dunlop EAS Compressor!

There's the couple of sentences folks need to read for why lockers are worth putting into a truck with great traction control. It's not that you won't be able to get over something, but it will be easier on the truck without spinning wheels required before it would climb. I'm a member of two different offroad clubs and on every trail there will be at least one obstacle that you REALLY want to have lockers for. I've taken the same truck with the same tires, once fully open, once locked in the rear and once locked front and rear. The difference is astounding. Now, that said, the stuff I do is higher than average. Moderate trails or class 6 roads -- you wouldn't need them and it'd be a waste of money. Hardcore rock climbs with often wet/mud rock faces? Yes, worth every penny.

You can see the TC working overtime here a 1/4 wheel spin at a time:
(Daniel trail at Uwharrie, NC)

Ill be back here in a couple weeks and Ill try to get the same video. It will be interesting to see how it differs. The video really flattens out the trail. This is more realistic depiction:

Install completed by Corey Rice @ Land Rover Knoxville, TN. His skills are probably more than what is required for this install, but this guy is one of the few that has rebuilt LR3 diffs. He is also one of the organizers for the Fall Uwharrie Land Rover event and an amazing mechanic. He even worked late into the evening to make sure my truck was ready for me. The RR Evoque loaner was fun but no luggage space and the nav is crap.

PM responses that others might find helpful: Used factory 75-90 synthetic oil. Change again after 500-1000 mile breakin period. Backlash was .015 and preloaded was rotational torque of 1.5NM.

Let me know if there are any other questions.

Off-topic, but how do you like Uwharrie? I'm headed down there in early June with the Mid Atlantic Overland Society. Seems like it should be fun and a bit challenging, but I've never been...

Its a lot of fun. I have been to the spring safari 4 years running. Your truck can run every trail easily in 2 days if its dry. Your Grabber at2s and HD locker will make easy work off all the climbs. Get the IIDTOOL to lift you truck if you dont already have a lift solution. If its wet, the very slick off camber stuff is extremely challenging and you'll be lucky to escape without some minor dents.

Lots of pictures that someone else posted:

Thanks for the info. From the picture of the ARB locker and bearings you posted it looks like it came with seals (parts #3 axle seal and #25 pinion seal) is that correct? Did it come with a new crush sleeve? That's the part that used to set the pinion depth/preload. It's #22 (collapsible spacer) in the diagram below. If not did the tech reuse the old one? Install a new one? If so any idea what the part number is? Thanks again!

Neither - not sure there is a part number for that. ARB Kit did not come with a pinion depth/preload crush sleeve. The LR tech had a new one left over from a previous diff rebuild that he didnt use.
