Default Anyone know ..

If the LR4 has the same issue with a failing brake pedal switch as the LR3? I have a buddy who is experiencing similar symptoms.

I have had two LR4. I had a 2010 and now a 2014 never had an issue and have not even thought about it since they have LED taillights. I have read on the UK forum that it is fixed.
But it is a cheap part to replace during diagnostic work.

My buddy's LR4 is giving him indications that HDC is not availalbe, Stab Control is not available and Emergency Brake Assist is not available. This is not happening at startup, rather after a few minutes of driving. His battery is only about a year old. His floorboards are not wet.

Should I move this post to the LR4 section?

Yeah, I would move to LR4. With that said, Rufflyer is right in that the part is CHEAP. At least on the LR3. Do not quote me on this, but I would think the switch in the 4 is the same. If so, you can use Ford part SW-6572. Same switch and less expensive.

Also keep in mind that the BMS (battery management system) on the 4 seems different than on the 3. In fact, I have not found any actual evidence that the LR3 (at least early ones) has a BMS system. On the 4 you can read all day about "profiles" and such and how installing a new battery should involve a BMS reset or possible change in "profile" for battery type difference, etc. The more I read into it, the more I am happy that I have a 3.

Thanks....I think at the end of the day he is going to have to take it in. I don't think he has the wherewithal to even go buy a brake switch and install it. He is the type of Land Rover owner that really shouldn't have a Land Rover.

A slow air leak that the compressor cannot keep up with may show up like that. I had a leak in a fight front and everything was fine for about 20 minutes of driving then the same lights you mentioned (minus the brake light).

Stop for gas, 10, min rest , then compressor worked until it got hot, then the lights would appear.

Worth a bottle of soapy water and a cold beet to find out.

OR......... just take it to the dealer and pick it up on Thursday when they are done. Either way is an acceptable method of repair.
