Approximate Costs?
Hi there,
I live in Denver, CO, and drive to Los Angeles, CA about 2x/year. Where are the best places to service my truck in LA? Even if just to get it checked out before hitting the road?
Also, in researching the truck, there are three issues that seem to come up for LR3s:
Fuel Injection Rail Cleaning
Front Steering Tie Rod Arms
Front Lower Control Arms
While there has been no indication that any of these issues are around the corner, I just want to be prepared if they do.
Everything else on the truck is in good condition.
I'm not a DIY'er (mainly no space, but largely little time), so taking any of these issues on by myself is not going to happen. Are there any Angelenos or Denverites who can give me a ballpark estimate on each of these? Dealer, independent shops...whatever you've got will help.
Thanks in advance!

You got those three "most common issues" from that bull**** youtube video, didn't you? I JUST got my tie-rods replaced at 114k; also JUST had the injector service done, and that was only because I wanted to do it.
...the control arm one, specifically the bushings wearing out, is a legit "common" issue.

117000+ miles...something is going to need attention.
Sure...I just didn't like the indictment of the LR3 that the video implied, when really it was unfounded. If it were me I'd look into what is needed or going to be needed based not only on mileage but on symptoms.
Based on what I've read on this and other forums over the past 9 years of ownership...there is a myriad of operating conditions and operator habits that these vehicles are subject to so it's not really that easy to determine what to expect.
Yes to bushings, yes to staying on top of the diffs and tranny, yes to suspension components eventually wearing out. The rest varies...

Youve got the best one right here in Denver. Skip LA and do your stuff here. Its would be hard to find a better place the JC's British in Englewood, CO. Those guys have been great for me. Honest and affordable.
JC's British & 4x4 - Denver Land Rover Service and Repair
What ever you do stay far far away from Santa Monica Rover. They are beyond horrible and very dishonest.
