Bad start for new lr guy
Okay...had my 05 lr3 for a total of 2 days and it is on the hook going back to the stealer as I speak. It was making a driveline noise which after looking on this forum I'm guessing it is a diff problem....this morning....won't start. Turn the key and you get 1 click out of a relay...thats it. Not the battery, I assume the starter but the stealer had to tow it back to the shop and they can't look at it until Wed. because of the holiday...... Hope my LR experience gets better.....

Whats the background on this vehicle, do you have all the maintenance records from previous owners? Did you have a pre-purchase inspection done by a good mechanic before you bought it to see if it had issues?

I had it inspected and the only things found to be wrong were the low coolant sensor is bad and it needed a wheel bearing. After I took it home I noticed the driveline noise while under light acceleration. Other than that...no issues. I took it to the symphony last night to see pirates of the caribbean and it was snowing...all good...handles super in the slush...was totally in love. I got up this morning and click...no start!!

I currently have same thing and will attempt a replacement tomorrow.
Crawl under the passenger side and give the starter a tap.
FWIW the starter is a Denso. I went the cheapie rebuild route through Rockauto. $35 plus core charge beats the $400+ LR wants... I may get mine tomorrow. Appantly the starter replacement is a bit of a bear. Removal of ball joints etc. Welcome to LR!

any used LR can have issues and you need to be used to maintenance bills with them. Just do not go to your Dealer find a local British mechanic!!! After buying mine the dealer told me $3800 to fix a few things. Local British mechanic (British Auto Specialists offers mechanical repair and body work for British built vehicles, loacated in Calgary) was only $430. Best thing to do is take it in tell them you just bought it and due a Full Check on it. Once you have this done you will LOVE your LR...Trust me. I run with Jeeps and I almost never get stuck. To date LR3 =9 and Jeep 1 in current getting stuck. Expect your yearly bills to be 5-10K for Maintenance. I have my Hydraulics checked twice a year due to heavy 4x4ing, might be over kill but I hate it when a Jeep beats me on the road.
BTW if you did not get an Interstate Battery then you should replace it right away!!! ONLY use interstate if your not using the OEM batteries. A hard lesson learn for me.
