Default Batteries Cost Benefit Analysis

The purpose of this thread is not to come up with a single right / best answer. It is to understand all the factors that a battery plays in operation of the LR Land Roves and examen the impact of a battery not running at top performance for theses trucks.

Example. It is my understanding that the electrical system in the LR# is different from a typical electrical system in all other cars because the alternator drives the electrical system not the battery. Please someone confirm this for me.

So it stands to reason that if you have a dead cell in a battery the alternator will recognize this and divert more and more power to recharging the battery.

So this electrical configuration would put more strain on the alternator and cause it to fail prematurely. As it did to me just recently.

Let me know your thoughts. Their is a method to my madness.

PS this question will be posted on other forms...
