Flash mode is called SUPPLY mode. In this mode you get 13.6 V steady charge for diagnostics and such.

Recently did some firmware updates. Read the warnings beforehand. Just used my regular battery charger on 10AMP mode. Could set it to 40AMP but that seemed excessive. I slightly suspect it is more of an exaggerated warning to release liability from people with a weak battery who might discharge during a flash and be SOL.
