Before I pull the trigger...
Hi ! As I said in my presentation I am on my way to buy my first Landy a 2006 Land Rover LR3 84 000 Km at 16 900 $ Cad.
The fast is I read a lot of things about the reliability, the cost of maintenance etc etc... And I really don't want to buy a lemon.
So what I have to verify on a 2006 LR3 before buying ?
Are the maintenance costs really expensive ?
And finally what's the thing to do on a 84 000 Km Lr3 as maintenance I mean ?
Thank you for your help.

Sounds like you already made up your mind.
Scan for codes, check and double that the EAS works properly. Make sure the cooling system has been properly maintained. Diesel or petro?

I assume you have driven the vehicle? If you are happy with the performance then go for it if everything checks out. Personally I find the V6 performance a little too leisurely but others may have no objection. The mileage looks good. Check for tie rod play, a-arms (lower ball joints). Check the tires. Is there weird tire wear ? Raise and lower the vehicle. Anything weird happening? I would get it checked out by a shop familiar with Rovers.
Where about are you?

Here is the factory shop manual section on maintenance items. Please don't go by some of the "made up by corporate sales weasels" schedules. Use the arduous intervals, and for things like differentials, don't go 150,000 miles.... Example - a D1 front differential has about 3 times the oil capacity of an LR3 unit. And the LR3 weighs 1300 pounds more, and has more horsepower. And yet they want you to change that oil at 150,000 miles in the LR3. All two soda cans full of oil.
My point is that you will get better service from the vehicle if maintained more frequently. Oil is a lot cheaper than a differential. If you can DIY or have a good indy shop you are money ahead of the dealer.

Hi again !
I am not really familiar with air suspension system. I tested the vehicle I would like to buy everything appear ok.
Do I have to do something special to test the good working suspension system ?
Thanks again
