Best year for LR3 and a couple questions
I've always loved the land rover look, and I really like a classy "built" LR3. I work overseas and see the LR3/4's everywhere. I'm interested in purchasing a LR3 from 2005-08, strictly based on prices. I'm wondering if there is any differences or updates from 05 to LR4 that I should be worried about? I'm also wondering if it is a horrible idea to buy an LR3 as it will typically be sitting for 4 weeks then driven for 4 weeks. My last vehicle would basically have to have the rotors replaced every 18 months because of how little I would drive. I'm concerned about suspension issues if it's sitting on the stops, or if it would be wise to keep a trickle charger on the battery. Or remove the battery all together when I leave town.
I'm hoping to find one with less than 150,000KM, then right away have the transmission filter and fluid changed, likely do the lower control arms and tie rods. Then source some 18's so I can get some nicer all terrain tire. Starting to ramble here.

IMO sitting untouched for a month at a time is probly bad , moisture can be a huge issue and we have seen pics of what mice do to lr3 wireing, battery will likely need maintaining cause if it gets low there's all kinds of gremlins and false codes that pop up
Ours sat for years before we bought it, I have not done rotors, once the water ingress was stopped and a few splices fixed most of the problems went away
I will note that sitting does not like the park brake shoes, they delaminated
Tech instructed me to put in drive and turn park brake on at like 5 MPH once a month to keep it working since we never use it, guess so nothing siezes and keep rust out of the drum
If you do buy one do the checklist at top of the page, probly last year would be best before they changed to lr4 that s my guess
