Default Bluetooth using factory controls

I want to be able to hook my IPhone up to my 2007 LR3 using Bluetooth. Also, I want to be able to use the factory telephone controls on the steering wheel, as well as the buttons that allow you to scroll through songs in my playlist.

I would prefer not to use a separate set of controllers that come with the adapter.....I want to use the factory controls that are already present.

Thank you and Semper Fi!

Well you were fine till you got to music controls - which is a totally different type / generation of bluetooth technology which wasn't really in use when the LR3 was launched in 2004.

Many people over at disco3.co.uk forums have successfully swapped the LR4 bluetooth module into the LR3 CAN system with great results, including the gps touch screen integration - I think music as well, though I may be mistaken.

For everyday use, you should be able to find the Land Rover bluetooth pairing signal and use key 2121, then operate as normal. The old version will not download your contacts (it would on old phone models) but the new LR4 one will - and the voice control will function with it - so you can say "call dad" or something and it'll verify then you can say "yes" and it'll do it.

Considering these things are ~12-13 years old since the late stages of design, that's still quite a cool feature to have.

The LR4 module does not support music streaming as far as I know. My 2008 LR3 must have a later software version, because it connects to my iPhone and imports contacts and works with voice commands.

Getting streaming music to work with steering wheel/head unit controls would be an endeavor. The small AUX input bluetooth modules have their own skip/play buttons that are convenient enough if located well.

My '05 doesn't have BT at all. Can that be added somehow? I don't mean to jack the thread so if that takes it off in a whole new direction, please disregard.

You might be able to add the Bluetooth module, as discussed above (either the original from an LR3 or LR4) but I'm not exactly sure what that entails (might need to modify the CCF file, for which you would need an IID tool or dealer).

Didn't even think about that, but possibly. It might be possible to control it entirely from the head unit if it has the correct buttons. The only Bluetooth buttons on the wheel are the Accept and Decline Call buttons.
