Hi, when I first got my LR3, 2006 it had 90,000 miles on it and I purchased it from a used car dealer down in North Carolina. If I were you I would check the miles, carfax, under carriage for rust, how many previous owners, and see if the brakes, tires, oil, have been recently changed. Also see if its an hse or se model, v6 or v8. I got the hse v8 with the works for $18,000 minus the rear locking diff . The first thing I changed when I got my truck was the thermostat, brake switch, waterproofed the a pillars tsb leak and changed the diff oils. Very easy jobs to do yourself if your somewhat mechanically inclined. The total cost for the immediate changes were under $150. Since than I've put about 9900 miles on it, I've changed all rotors, pads, epb pads for under $500. Just as long as you keep up with the maintenance the truck should last a long time.

I would suggest scouring the LR3 section of this forum to educate yourself on All the issues LR3 owners have posted
here. There's quite a few...

Then I would suggest you look at this one

Used 2006 Land Rover LR3 For Sale | Red Bank NJ

This is my personal LR3. I'm a Land Rover Master Tech
I've been with Land Rover since 1987, and have fixed all the typical issues
on it that I possibly could...

Cheers

Here's the service list, from the shop manual. The whole shop manual is also a free download in my signature. Lots of electronics, needs a good battery, not a five year old Neva Start. Would advise fluid change intervals more frequent than Rover spec. The 10 year/150,000 miles on front differential is an example. A new diff is in the $2200 range. The LR3 diff holds 1/3 the fluid of a D1, yet the LR3 is more weight and more HP. The fluids schedule is made for leased vehicles, shoving repair costs to next owner. A more arduous schedule won't hurt the truck.

An LR3 owned by a super tech would probably be good to drive to Argentina overland.

The same general stuff applies to all year models, so there is no need to start over.
