Default Calling all tire gurus: Can I run the LT version of the Nitto Terra Grappler?

my current nitto terra grapplers (285/60/18) are starting to wear out. they are the "p metric" version. nitto also makes an "lt" (light truck) version of the same tire in the same size but the tread is thicker: 15.6/32" vs. 13.6/32".

the lt version is slightly narrower (11.50" vs. 11.54") but has a slightly larger diameter (31.50" vs. 31.38").

nathan woods' fantastic site (http://blog.nextstepdesigns.com/?p=46) says that we need to run something under 32" and even 31.50" could present minor rubbing issues.

my questions are whether anyone here has actually run the lt version of the terra grappler in 285/60/18, and if so, what issues (if any) were present?

thanks

You should be able to run that tire. Yes, you will have some minor rubbing with articulation and going over bumps. I run 32" Goodyear MTR's and love em. The Nitto looks good.
