Default Can I replace height sensor without reprogramming for a while??

Hey, guys ...got a faulty RR Height sensor on the 06 LR3....sometimes its good other times its bouncing all over the Screen. I have bought the new sensor....if I put it on now will it be better until I can take in to the Stealer...I mean Dealer....to have reprogrammed??? I also have to have my air pump reprogrammed....just replaced it with the New Style Pump....original laster 125K.....so want to do it all at once......thanks

Also bought to replace starter!! Oh Boy....she's dead in the driveway!!

Really all I have had to do to her since 06...so cant complain.

Thanks

The height sensor should be ok, it does not need to be programmed, but the suspension should be calibrated, to adjust for mounting tolerances, worst case there is slightly uneven suspension.

The system does need to be updated for the compressor, and should be done as soon as possible. I have seen some, not sure why only some, raise the rear end because it is unable to open the exhaust valve due to the valve opening strategy being different from Hitachi to AMK. Also, you will throw a fault code for compressor overheat, as the AMK does not report it's temperature to the module but is internally monitored.

With the height calibration, you can raise it, then lower it to normal, on a flat surface, and check the height of each corner, if it is very close, a couple mm side to side, you don't need a calibration... but with the new compressor and no software update, you may not want to chance raising and lowering it if it's sitting good right now.

So these AMK compressors are the only available ones? Should be a good question to ask when I find my LR3 (08/09) that if the original compressor has been replaced.

Suspension calibration should always be done after a Suspension Module software update, so get it all done at once and as soon as possible.

You will most likely set fault codes that disable the suspension due to the incompatibility of the two compressors.

I'm sure you can find someone still selling the Hitachi, but from Land Rover they are no longer available. Switch over was around September 2012.

Well, i put the new compressor on about three weeks ago..it has been working fine..airs up in less than 30 seconds( the tank)...I plan on taking it in to the stealer this weekend now that the right rear sensor has been replaced...and yes the AMK is the only one you can get now from the dealer.....the Hitachi factory is gone from the Tsunami......
FYI I got my NIB AMK on ebay for 400.00 and 20 shipping from "landrovergirl" out of houston....half the price !!!! she can get you one if needed.....

On the short note, I just put in a new starter today....PITA!!!!! but its done!!
And yes you can do it...I got Oreilly reman for 112.00 out the door with lifetime warr.....

The car fires right up now.....the stealer wanted 400.00 just for labor!

OH. ... the LR3 does not have a problem with the new AMK's, at least not mine....works fine with no errors.... It does not know its on there.....the programming has something to do with the run time or something like that...i have just been limiting playing with my height toy....its fun to do at stop lights!! people freak out

I have had no issues with my baby until now. I am the original owner. She is an 06... with 120000 + miles

TolarLR3, I highly recommend having the software update preformed for the reasons I mentioned above. With the incorrect exhaust valve strategy you run the risk of causing damage to the new compressor. Yes, it may work now, however it will throw a fault soon enough for comp. temp, and why risk damage to a part that will be trouble free if done properly.
