Carpet soaked...and I am stuck on how to remove the rest of the passenger side dash
Hi - So this started with me knowing there was a problem with my key.
Decided to look into the wiring and splices etc.
At the same time - heater core issues...
When I rains...
And did it ever,.
My carpet and under pad are SOAKED.
I really want to remove the carpet and let the whole thing dry out. At the same time, I want to remove the passenger side dash because then I can replace the sunroof tube which I sure is the issue.
But I am stuck - How can I take the rest of the side out adjacent to the glove box (with the glove box at the same time...?)
This way I can really get to the carpet, get to the rain tube and possibly look at the heater core.
How much of the centre dash to I need to remove to be able to get the whole passenger side out? (am pointing to it with the screw driver)

Reason: spelling
The carpet is one giant piece from the firewall to the 2nd row seats. You'd need to remove the center console, seats and amp under the passenger seat (i'd get the amp out asap and try to dry it out before corrosion sets in unless you have a base model which has no amp).
Maybe try youtube to see if someone has a video on a heater core replacement. I haven't removed that section you're pointing to, and I wouldn't want to honestly.
No need to remove the dash to replace the drain tube. In fact, you can cheat a little and just replace the end by using part of a new tube and a coupler. You may be better off using some heat/fans to dry the carpets. Could take a long time, but still faster than taking it all apart. The padding is THICK, so best to use towels/vacuum to squeeze out water and suck it up first.
I second no need to remove the dash. I bought replacement tubes and splices to do the afore mentioned splice method and found I could just swap out the ends. The only thing I had to remove was the panel under the dash and the fuse panel.
I stuck a big maglite under the carpet to hold it up and set up a heat gun at the opening (~1 ft away). just checked it every 30min or so to be sure i didnt burn the truck down.

Just removed this dash section on mine... its not too bad; as indicated above seats, amp, and media module (drivers side) need to come out... then center console (check you tube for a quick tip on shifter removal - its easy - but not what you might think) 2 torx in front, 2 small ones behind the 'vent panels in back to get the while console out ... then radio, heater controls, ash tray, nav, and hazard/lock module need to be removed... and then you're ready to remove the center dash -> 6 or 8 torx bolts hold it in... there is another metal piece that connects the center dash to floor that needs to be removed if you want to pull the carpet out. lastly the antenna cable has an annoying connector that i broke trying to remove as it goes through the carpet (argh) ... all that said -> i would try the blower or heat gun approach before tearing everything apart ... it is straightforward but time consuming.
Either in the tech section or in my 05 lr3 thread i have pics of how i fuxed the front drains using cpvs 90 and 2 small stubs of pipe to replace the bad rubber ends
And i dried the carpet by squizing out as much water as possiblenand sop up under the carpet, then held up carpet and set a snail blower from harbor freight with heater attachment onna chair blowing under carpet for a day, similar to the leaf blower above
