Correct fluid(s) in Locking Rear Diff 2006 LR3
Very new to the LR world. Just bought a 2006 LR3 with locking rear diff... very hard to find. I love this LR3 and want to keep it a long time so correct maintenance is important. Went and had all new oil and fluids changed. Rear locking diff, transfer case, front diff, transmission, and engine oil all changed. Not cheap. Now learning more, I see Youtube, British Atlantic showing how and what to use changing fluid in a locking rear diff. NOT the same as an open rear diff fluid change. They show using some of the same as an open rear diff but make a point that the locking rear diff should also be mixed with 'Electric locking Diff' fluid. Is this true? Is this a big deal?
I never saw my receipt as it was emailed. I wanted engine oil to be Amsoil and trusted the 'Certified' shop with the rest. After spending over $1,300 that included a new battery they said it needed, I will be a bit displeased if the correct fluids where not used. Looking at the ticket when arriving home, it is not specific as what fluids were used... Yes a call will be made. Could someone let me know about the locking rear diff fluid? Here is the link if anyone is interested.

The carbon clutches are not terribly common. So you indeed need the correct fluid. Dont trust anyone to say "well we use XXX cause it works". Its a gamble. Castrol Bot 720 is the current fluid on the market besides getting LR dealer stuff. There is also a GM equivalent 92184900, which is Bot 720 rebottled.

I use a CURT bolt on, fits great and works great but torque it with an impact wrench because one of the bolts on mine came loose, almost lost it in the frame. I did loose the nut but I found something that fits luckily. Other than that minor mishap I have towed two tonnes with it no problem.
Also, I take the risk of not running with a spare, but according to CURT it will fit, but not a full size spare. As far as the expensive lighting harness, yeah I didn't get that, I built my own thing with a 20$ kit from autozone, I can show you how if you're interested.
Tow Hitch, Reasonably easy install although it is a bit tedious.
