My 07 lived its first 110k miles in Washington DC and North Dakota. I noticed the corroded brake lines shortly after I bought it and knew I would have to deal with it before long.
Today was the day. LR Time and Waldo both have great YouTubes on the project and were extremely helpful in my prep.
The new hard lines are in. I’m tackling the flex lines and finishing up tomorrow. Here are some pics of the crusty lines. I’ll post some of the completed work tomorrow.
Quite the project and one I myself have to undertake. Been putting it off too long. Did you go with the OEM replacement kits or are you bending your own?
Bent my own like Waldo did using the same flare tool kit. I could not find an OEM line kit. If you did find an OEM kit, I don’t think you’ll be able to snake the lines back through without mangling or kinking them. I read somewhere that this is a body-off job at Land Rover.
The OEM kit lines are made of the same iron you’re removing.. they’ll just go bad again eventually. I got a notice of my brake lines starting to have rust on them about a year or two ago during annual inspection. One of the local indies replaced the originals with new ones made out of cunifer. I also had them the rubber brake hoses with stainless steel braided ones at the same time that I had procured separately.
