This thread is a little old but hopefully still has some life. I have a 2013 LR4 with satellite radio. Cracked rear sunroof but not leaking. Considering replacement on my dime. Price for LR branded glass: local dealer 1150$, eBay 920$ with free ship to my door. Does anyone have a source (location, website, phone number) for the non LR branded Pilkington Optikool and the so called no name far east tinted glass previously referenced? Is there any compelling reason to replace if not leaking? Has anyone bought a good used glass from salvage and installed? What is a reasonable installation charge? I am in Oklahoma. I am in the middle of nowhere in Canada.
My insurance covers glass replacement ($300 deductible)
I took the rover in to the nearest city and had a shop there replace the roof glass.
It was ordered new, they had my vehicle for a week.

Compelling reason: the glass is laminated and similar to a windshield. The lamination is not just for flying debris and the resistance to shattering, These laminated panels are for structure. Sorry, no info on used glass in this case, but local shops are having to deal with this roof glass all the time now. Many makes of vehicles are featuring large glass roof panels, and so the work is becoming more common all the time.

 

I have sold used glass and paid to have it installed for customers, works fine.

local glass guy charges $100 for removal and $100 for install.
