Default Crappy TPMS Valve Stems

The poorly designed TPMS valve stems on our trucks caused one of the stems to crack and leak. Took it to my local shop where they attempted to install a universal programmable sensor and stem.... no dice, only the poorly designed Siemens units will suffice. Anywho, not wanting to spend any money on a bad design, I had them just install a regular valve stem and send me on my way. I remembered that there was a fuse that could be pulled to disable the TPMS which also disables something else which I cannot recall. Can anyone remember what other system the fuse enables? Also, can the TPMS be disabled through software?

Thanx....

Pretty certain they be disabled with IID tool. Not sure about the other tools. I assume it's part of the CCF. I really wanted TPMS when I bought my truck, but I'm actually glad mine came without. Just took me a while to realize it.

East Coast, your right - they are utter garbage. I've owned 2 LR3s and the TPMS in both has always had a fault - I just live with the warning - as annoying as it is. On the first one the shrader threads actually just disintegrated so it was impossible to actually inflate the tires.

Does pulling the fuse for the TPMS and rear back up sensors still trigger the dash light?

IID tool does it. Only use for the TPMS is letting you know early in the case of rapid pressure loss while driving, IE big leak from nail, bolt, rock etc.

Never tried pulling the fuse so no clue if the light is triggered. My guess is yes.

Pulling the fuse does not extinguish the light but it does stop that annoying beep when reversing... will see if my shop can access the TPMS and toggle it off.

Almost 140k on my 2006 and only replaced one since new. Colorado is dry, with no salt used during the winter. Do you guys live in a different environment?

I only use plastic caps, as I noticed the metal ones created some corrosion during my short time using them.

I got a set of used LR3 rims off an 08 and all the TMPS sensors were made by Ford Motor Company. My 06 does not have TPMS so I tossed all the sensors from the new wheels, but it looked like any 08 & up Ford valve stem TPMS sensor to me.
