I bought two thermostat housings in May. One for our 2005 LR3 and one for our 2006 Range Rover Sport. Installed them both along with a new water pump in the Range Rover Sport. I have had some spotty leaks in the LR3. First the small hose that has the bleeder valve developed some very tiny but leaky holes under the hose clamp. Now the new thermostat housing on the LR3 is leaking. It seems to have a crack of some sort resulting in a leak in the groove in the larger pipe on the passenger side of the housing. Replacing the housing is a time-consuming pain in the tail. Not to mention a potential engine-overheating risk. Not sure if I just got a bad part or what. Interestingly one of the housings that I replaced had a leak in the same groove in the same pipe. Abran recommends only using OEM cooling system parts. I wish that I would have done so! On the other had, the New housing on the Range Rover Sport is working without a hitch.
Seems like aftermarket parts of any sort have gone down hill very rapidly. There used to be a few brands that were decent, but not anymore in my opinion.
