Default dash alerts need help (new)

Hey guys, new to the family.
Got an 05' LR3 and got some dash alerts.

1."Transmission Fault"
2."HDC Fault system not available"
3."Special Programs Off"
4. Exclamation mark under temperature gauge

I just got the car today and havent taken it to a mechanic who works on Land Rovers yet but I figured I would come to you professionals for some guidance and advice first.

Some things I noticed, the suv doesnt life up or down when you push the suspension tab up or down. Doesnt look like the suspension works.

Also, when I change modes with the **** (snow, desert etc) thats when the dash indicates "HDC Fault System Not Available" so I know thats not working.

Other than that, drives great and I dont feel any transmissions issues at all.

Please help me out with any info and what to do if you guys dont mind.

Thanks in advance and im very happy to join the family!

I'm sorry but can you be more specific?

The suspension won't raise because of the fault. Same with the Terrain Response selections. Check the battery first. Then if that's fine check the brake light switch...and by check the brake light switch I mean CHANGE it. It's a cheap part.

After that, check the sunroof drains and the wiring harness on the passenger side floorboard (you'll have to remove the plastic lining and pull up the carpet a bit). You can check the sunroof drains by pouring water down the drains and seeing if the water exits behind each tire.

...but like I said it's battery, then brake light switch. (also check the wheel angle sensors).

Will do exactly what you advise step by step.

Thank you so much for your help and I'll post back with the results.

Thanks again man appreciate it

Pull the sill plate up, pull pass front carpet back, expect wet, the harness has areas with blue tape, those are splices, they usually need repair and cause all kinds of issues, dry the area and clear the sunroof drains

Be aware the trans is usually stuck in 1st when disabled, keep an eye on the tach , don't over rev engine if you need to drive it, can be expensive mistake

Then do sunroof fix I believe Tom put it as a sticky in the tech section. It has a few photos for reference.

Seconded on brake light switch, sorry to hear you got issues. It is a shame that the sunroof drains can be such a weak link for a car filled with wiring.

Thanks Tom and DavC Ill definitely look into those for more solutions.

Until I get to check that, I have a couple more questions.
My passenger mirror housing is broken so I need a replacement.
I dont know exactly which model I need though, I found this page with the part numbers but is there any way to search which one i need using my VIN?

Land Range Rover Sport LR3 OEM Factory Side Rear View Mirror Casing

I know I dont have power folding but I dont know exactly what "approach lamp" is and I dont know if my mirrors are memory.

Also, one more issue, when I start up my car I get a heavy rattling from the rear wiper for about 10 seconds then it stops, im assuming the motor is toast?
How can I check that?

Thanks in advanced.

Most likely you do not have auto-folders, or even auto dipping-- bummer for us.

Try landrovermerramparts.com -- do you have the P/N#? I just ordered the glass, broke it trying to put it together after whacking it.

Un-- does the rear wiper work at all? It shouldn't rattle if it is not running, do you mean it makes a noise when it is turned on, dry on the window?

Put someone in the boot to start pinpointing the noise location when you start it.

Well considering I have the basic one then the part number would be on that list I posted.
And sucks to hear you broke your glass, those are a pain, you need to apply pressure but too much of it and it breaks.

Also, I tried to figure out how to put the rear wiper on but I don't know if I did. I read the manual and it's saying that I put the wiper **** up one position so it's in the delayed position and the rear should copy it. If that's the case then my rear wiper doesn't work at all.

Really weird considering the sound it makes when the car starts. I had someone hold the rear wiper when I started the car and it didn't do the 10 second rattle.

Thanks for the help btw
