Default Dash crack question

Well, after 19 years in the mild PNW and despite having an ugly dash cover on it for a long time, my 2005 has developed the start of a crack. It’s less than a half inch long.

The question: has anyone discovered a filler I can use while the crack is this small, to fill it in and thwart any growth?

I haven't tried it but I've wonder if a leather seat crack repair/filler would work.

Being designed for seats might give it the needed flexibility

I have about ab3 inch crack in mine on the passenger side. Was going to dribble super glue into it to hopefully stop it from spreading. Put tape along either side first. Could afterwards smear some black RTV over the gap.

That’s a good plan. Isn’t RTV an adhesive as well? Might not need the superglue….

Some RTV does work as an adhesive but I don't think as strong as cyanoacrylate glues.

Best to cut a tiny circle at the end of the crack or no matter what you do it will spread. It's an expansion/age issue. The cover material has shrunk and cant handle the stress of the inner foam when it expands.

Yes, that is a good idea. Done typically when cracks from in materials.
