Dashboard just started cracking at the left edge of the passenger airbag.


2006 LR3 HSE.


Any suggestions on stopping and then repairing the crack?

Very common LR3/RRS issue. Some people install dash mats, I live in TX and mine has two small cracks around the airbag. I make sure to use a sunshade when I park, but unless you replace the dash I haven't heard of a way to fix it yet.

 

I have the full outline of my PASS airbags cracked. I am OK with it as long as it doesn't expand to bisect the dash itself and crack more...

 

There is a kit by permatex for fixing cracked vinyl, i tried it on mine and made it worse, so I picked up a dashmat from seatzmfg.com in tech black I think the material was called,

Looks "ok" better than the crack

 

Most vinyl/leather repair kits on the market are not worth the time and investment but these guys seem to offer a product that should work. Where the repair uses heat to set and bond the product, due diligence should be exercised working over an air bag.

Mines all cracked, dash mat

 

Did the exact thing as packratt. Tried the permatex YUCK! Did the dash mat in the tech fabric. That or $700+ for a new dash.

 

Glad im not the only one

 

I just got my LR3 and it came with a nice crack all the way across. It's actually fairly fine and not super noticeable. In a vehicle like this, I don't mind it actually for some reason. A new one will end up cracking too eventually!
