Default EMS Fault

It appears the gas cap was not on properly and EMS fault light came on. I assume they are related. Manual refers to dealer asap.

Message came up about fuel/cap not secure. Tightened cap and message went off.

EMS light is still on.

Will it reset after so many miles or do I need to have it reset?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance, Ray

The check fuel cap message come up before it sets the fault for an EVAP leak, so that you have the chance to rectify a possible, and common issue before the check engine light turns on.

If you 'fixed' the gas cap when the message was there, but the CEL had not turned on yet, this is not your problem, and you will need to have the system checked for the source of the leak. LR3s have had several different issues over the years causing EVAP leak faults.

After about 50 miles of driving with the cap on properly, the light went off.

I am hoping the cap off threw the warning light and message and is not a separate issue.

At least all messages are clear for now
