So what's the tool for?

I saw a video about taking the body off,is that the only way to remove the engine?

There was one guy , on this forum, that successfully removed a 4.4 engine on LR3 without taking a body off. I think , i have read about that last year .He took a radiator off and was able to lift the engine out without taking a majority of accessories .He said , it was tight, but doable. That all I remember, can's seem to find a link to his post though...

Well, I started. Removed all the under plates, Sway bar, front air shocks, bumper, fender flares, fender well trim, and fenders.

Then I started on the radiator and fan clutch. Fan clutch was kicking my butt, until I realized it was a left handed thread, opposite of the D2s I am used to. disconnected all the cooling lines and removed coolant tank reservoir.

Things look tight, I am not too thrilled about it, but I am going to have lunch and hit it again.

I'll keep updating as I progress.

Got the AC system cleared, removed the radiator and AC condenser.

Removed the T case support/sub-frame, both Cat pipes, and the front driveshaft.

Got the 3 Torque Converter bolts un done and then miraculously got all the bell housing bolts off... Not easy.

If all goes well tomorrow I just need to unbolt the engine mounts, disconnect fuel lines, and all the electrical. After that I just need to figure out where to strap it for the Cherry Picker.

Overall feeling good. Should have it out tomorrow.

Trans and t case out, engine is disconnected, but the engine mount tab keep getting caught in the steering shaft. I gave up for the day.

Going to try and remove steering shaft tomorrow.

I'm really hoping you are taking some pics as you go. You've got a great detailed thread going!

Pics...? I knew I forgot something.

I will try and take some pics that will help the next guy. I will also post up bolt counts for the bell housing and the T case to Trans union.

Motor is out. The steering rod was the only thing holding it from coming out.
