Smile Engine swap for my 05 LR3

The oil pump failed at 135K miles in my 05 LR3 4.4L in which damaged the motor beyond repair unfortunately. So I'm putting in a used motor with 65K miles out of a 06 LR3. Is there anything I should change before a swap is done? I might obviously change the oil pump and oil cooler since that's a concern and maybe new chain guides. Any recommendations of changes I'd like to hear them!

I'd personally take advantage of the access and inspect the timing set up, put in a new timing cover gasket, head gaskets and valve cover gaskets.

Ah! Thank you! I wasn't even thinking about head gaskets or valve cover gaskets! Easier to do that for sure before we put the newish motor in.

It actually went pretty well thanks to British 4x4 here in town. They inspected everything and no need for timing, head gaskets etc. It took 15 hours and a few new parts. Been driving it for a little over a month now and it's running great with zero codes surprisingly. 😂.

Did you end up doing the swap yourself or did you have British 4x4 do it along with the inspection?
