extended waranty
Mine had WAY too many miles for an extended warranty, so I know little about them for the LR3 specifically. BUT make sure it covers things you might need it for. Certain common issues like suspension bushings and air suspension parts might not be covered on some extended warranties.
The best extended warranty I have found, is the one Land Rover offers on the CPO vehicles. Since your vehicle isn't a CPO (certified pre-owned), then you probably would not qualify. It covers EVERYTHING but trim.
Other than that, I really don't like extended warranties. I deal with a bunch, and they often times won't cover items, or won't pay the full amount to fix. Keep in mind, its basically an insurance policy. And the only way they can make money, is to sell the policy for more money than they think they will have to pay out. This really only benefits you if you bought a lemon, and even some contracts have a limit.

Do it. Without a doubt. I struggled with the same question when I bought my 2007 LR3 with 29,000 miles on it 2 years ago. I researched extended warranties top to bottom. Which ones were good, which ones didn't cover anything, etc. I ended up going with a Ford Extended Service Plan. That's right, as in Ford Motor Company. They will cover any vehicle and everything on that vehicle. Each Ford dealer has a different markup on the cost of the warranty. For some reason, Zeigler Ford (I think in Kansas?) sells the most warranties and has the cheapest prices I could find - here's a link Ford ESP: Ford Extended Service Plans at highly discounted prices. Lowest Price Guarantee!. You will need to take your LR3 to your local ford dealer and have them inspect your rover to make sure it does not have any existing issues. Once they sign off, you have 30 days to purchase the warranty. I bought the top warranty (platinum) which covers everything. I believe I spent $3,000 for 60 month / 60,000 mile coverage / $100 deductible. Shortly after purchasing, my front airbags went. I took it to my local Land Rover mechanic. They were covered by the ESP. While at the mechanic, I complained about my seat belts not retracting like they should. Got new ones installed, again covered by the ESP. Total repair was about $2,500. As I'm writing this, it's in the shop again. This time for two o2 sensors, a speed sensor, wheel hub, and my center console fridge is broken. Guess what? All covered by the Ford ESP again! Even the fridge! The repair is over $2,300. Their policy is to send an adjuster out within 24 hours to authorize the repair. They are fast to respond and I can't say enough good things about my purchase. I have peace of mind until 90,000 miles. Let me know if you have any questions on it.

I would second bumpdaddy's endorsement of the Ford ESP plan. I too purchased mine through Ziegler Ford and it was without a doubt the least expensive warranty and covered absolutely everything. I bought a 48 mo/48k miles for my 2007 LR3 at about 60k miles for about $2700 and spread the payments over 18 months. I have gotten back that much and more in covered repairs. I checked into renewing it when it expired at about 110k miles, but at that point the cost makes it unreasonable.
Thanks everyone for your replies. I have put a call in to the Land Rover dealership for a quote, yet to hear back from them as of yesterday. I called Ziegler about ford esp warranty yesterday as well, the salesman said as of oct 2nd , 2013 they no longer cover land rovers. I'm totally bummed by this, as the ford esp according to my research and your opinions was the best out there. So, I continue my search.
We must have ruined it for everyone else. Sorry 'bout that. I'll still save you some time. When doing my research, the best warranty company was actually Zurich. They were a bit more expensive than Ford's ESP, so I went with Ford. Zurich does not sell direct to consumers, so you will need to do some research and compare dealer markups. My Land Rover mechanic told me that he thought Libertyville Acura in Illinois sells them.
Thanks you guys for advice. I just got off the phone with direct buy. They quoted me 5 yrs, 60,000 miles at 2840.00. I looked over the contract and it seems to cover everything except wear and tear such as dents, scratches, oil and other fluid changes. Its transferrable to another owner or to another vehicle of mine if so choosing. Rental car , towing, and the warranty is liscensed and certified through Land Rover.
Any opinions on Direct Buy?
Thanks

I don't personally have an opinion of Direct Buy, but plenty of other people on the Internet do. They're horrible. Check out this link just for starters. http://www.complaintsboard.com/compl...y-c376272.html
I am currently having an issue with Motorist Assistance Plan (MAP) on my warranty. The suspension air compressor failed, and they advised it is NOT covered!
Holy Shiet Storm!!!
I purchased this warranty to post cover the factory warranty. The dealer sold me a on a bumper to bumper plan. We even discussed the issue with the air compressor, and he mentioned it is covered. Well, suspension "spring" is mentioned but they advised that the compressor is not stated as part of the suspension component.
I spent over 3k on this policy and now I am considering cancelling it...not unless the dealer that I bought the policy handles this.
To add, my local LR dealer service manager advised it should be covered. They too were perplexed that it is not covered...they are still willing to help me out...of course.
