extended waranty
Unfortunately most policies aren't aware of "air suspension" and are written up as just springs....lucky they didn't try and classify it as a "consumable"
As someone remarked, they're in the insurance game betting they make more money in premium than they have to pay out. So they are incentivized to say "computer says no" and hope you go away. The dealer I bought from said he could offer a warranty too, when I checked with the warranty company they specifically excluded LR due to things like the air suspension. Dealer didn’t know that and claimed they had some over ride. Yeah right.
Did I take a warranty out ? No
Did I research the service history ? Yes
Have I had to spend money ? Yes
Is it near what the cost of the warranty was ? No
Would I buy a warranty in retrospect ? No
Have people on these forums helped me save $$$$ ? YES

Thanks for reaffirming my decision not to buy direct warranty. I'm still shopping, but I am close to saying forget it. I wanted the peace of mind of having a warranty, also easier to tell the wife " oh yeah thats covered under the warranty " rather than say " honey its another 1500 dollars or 2000 dollars for this or that." I think, after reading review after review on all the 3rd party warranties and seeing the threads on here, they are all worthless , maybe a few lucky exceptions. The warranty companies that seem legitimate and that are reccomended by several independent LR shops that I have called are very expensive. The cheapest I found of these was NAC (national auto care) through a bmw dealership. 3 yr 36,000 mile for 5496. Prices just went up from there.
I purchased one from Auto Advantage, It cost me $2495.00 but I have 100,000 miles on it or 5 years. I got it when I got my used LR3 with 90,000 miles on it. It covers breakdowns, Engine, transmission, transfer case, diffs, air conditioning, electrical and fuel related things, ex. fuel pump. Towing & Rental as well. I haven't used it yet, but it does give me peace of mind in case a diff or transmission breaks on me. Deductible is $100. It rates A+ on BBB.
I made the mistake of getting a third party company to provide my extend warranty. To All, never used Gold shield Auto Warranty. I had to fight with them every claim and the coverage was horrible.
