Default Fault codes

When an engine, transmission, or suspension fault occurs, does the computer store them so the technician can download them? If so, do these faults record and display the date that the fault occured???

Can't say iffault codes are stored indefinetely or are erased after a certain number of start-up/warm-up cycles, but I'm pretty sure there's no timestamp available.

All codes are stored in relitive ECU's and cant be erased without an IDS lap top (test book) some ECU's even keep the codes in a historic file even if the code is cleared. The date is not recorded , but Freeze Frame data stores everything when the fault occured, engine temp, rpm fuel level etc.
