Found an LR3 at a local dealer, few questions
Hello, for years i've been wanting an LR3 specifically in Silver with tan interior and found one near by, is a 2006 HSE with 114,000 Miles, 1 owner, no accidents, looks extremely clean, had the chance to crank it up and had no problem, but didn't take it to test drive it yet, interior is actually pretty good, driver's seat in great shape with no cracks, dashboard has no cracks. they're asking $10,900 for it.
Carfax report shows it was purchased in augusta GA and used in NC for the last 10 years and 2 months, suspension was serviced by warranty in 06-2010, and drive axle was serviced in 01-2012, after that there is no maintenance record, just yearly emission inspection and registration up to 06-2016.
it looks immaculate and for what i've seen in the past few months of searching the price seems ok for the mileage?
Looking to trade my 2006 Explorer for it.
any thoughts?
thank you.

That's what I'm working on right now, i have spent quite some time researching before, I'm just a little hesitant because coming from an 06 explorer that i've owned for the past 5 years the only issue i've had with this car is the thermostat housing, that's it, but reading about the LR3 and obviously being an older vehicle there will be expected repairs, i just don't have a whole lot to invest into it right now, you think is a good price for it? most i've seen in that price have over 180k miles.

Follow the checklists here:

$10,900 is pretty cheap. Almost cheap enough to be suspicious. If you have the ability, take it to a LR dealer or specialist to get it looked at before buying. At the very least, go over it with a fine toothed comb.
Even if it is in perfect shape, I wouldn't be comfortable without having $1-2k in reserve for common repairs.

I did not see you mention at what kind of dealer this was... not a LR dealer?
>Read the pre-purchase link above, read it like the bible.
>Ask that the vehicle be taken to a LR dealership and have a pre-purchase inspection done.
>Ask said LR dealer to use the VIN and find the dealership where the vehicle was purchased and/or maintained. Ask them to call and pull all the internal records of maintenance. I did mine like that and they faxed over 8 years of wonderfully detailed info which remains with my vehicle records.
Any dealer that isn't a LR dealer will know next to nothing about these vehicles. Carfax is garbage except to ensure there haven't been reported accidents. I only spoke to third party dealers with vehicles just enough so that they'd let me drive the vehicle and borrow it to get it inspected. I happened to pass on a vehicle like the one you mention at a Chevy dealer because I got it inspected and it had several major issues... for their trouble I gave them a copy of the inspection results. Even talked them down a few thousand but it wasn't what I wanted.
$10k is OK for mileage if nothing else is broken. After you do all the things on the checklist and the few items above, you will know if you are getting your moneys worth.

It's a local independent used car dealer, i may ask them if they can get me that maintenance info since the carfax only shows what I described on my first post.
I guess since is the first one I've actually stopped to look at I couldn't believe how well maintained it looks (physically) so is easy to get excited.

Not kidding about inspection though. NOTHING else matters, just get it inspected. There have been a few people recently on the forums that didn't do this and of course had a few issues after purchase...

How much on average should I expect to pay for an inspection at a LR dealer?
[1QUOTE=DavC;580317]I know the feeling... try to at least look at one or two more so you can mentally compare them a bit.
