Default front end allignment

I decided to get my wheels alligned........call Bill Jacobs LR in Naperville and got a quote of $259.............called Bill jacobs LR in Hind=sdale and got $149.

I called the Naperville location back (it's closer) and told them.............

that dealership isn't worth a damn! They were terrible to work with when i was looking to buy, and are a joke on service, too.

For an extra $20 take it to a local Firestone AutoCare Center and get the lifetime alignment. ($169)

Default RE: front end allignment

Is there anything special that the LR dealers might know or have tools for to properly align the LR3 that a Firestone or other similiar dealer might not? I too am frustrated by my service department telling me I need to align my LR3 every 12K miles for $149 a pop and would love an alternative. That said, I worry that the air suspension or some other special feature on the LR3 might make it tough to get a good alignment from someone who is not a dealer.

Just curious, as a non-technical guy, what is actually changing with the alighment and requires adjustment. I could understand it you hit something and bent metal, but I know that's not the case with me. Is something wearing, like a bushing perhaps?
