GAP / Nanocom Alternative

GAP / Nanocom Alternative
Hey folks,
I was about to purchase a Gap IID tool or Nanocom to service my LR3 to get the special EAS functions, e.g. disabling EAS, deflating the air springs. However, I tried my Thinktool Pad 10 on my LR3 and saw that the Pad 10 has all the special features for the EAS, as well as every other computer as far as I can tell. I used the Pad 10 to program a new key, recalibrate my e-parking brake, and recalibrate the steering angle sensor. One thing it can't do is flash the ECU. I have a TPMS light that won't go away, and the Pad 10 can read all the TPMS sensors and it does report the pressures, however they're all higher than actual (I hear this is a problem with the Gap IID tool as well). I'd like to flash the ECU so that it disables the TPMS, which isn't something the Pad 10 can do.
The Pad10 is a lot more expensive than the IID and Nanocom tools but if you already have one, or a similar product like an Autel or Launch tool, you probably don't need the IID or Nanocom tools for most things. Also, these generic tools aren't VIN locked or model locked so you can use them over and over again on different LR vehicles.

The GAP can do everything really, but it is indeed VIN locked unless you have shop version. And really for most the VIN lock is not an issue since most use it on their own vehicle. And for $80 another VIN can be added. It will work on other Rovers without VIN being added, but I think its functions are limited a little. If one does need to work on numerous Rovers, then the shop or pro version would be the way to go anyway. I actually needed to update my ECUs. Both rear diff and transmission were critical updates. Doing them with the GAP is certainly cheaper than the dealer. So for me with required software updates, the GAP was the best solution anyway.
