GAP trans firmware
"If you do it enough times..."
Do you mean repeatedly commanding 1st gear while you're locked out of it? Or do you mean having that lock-out condition occur in a given drive? What does the fault say?
Generally this happens to me when I try to go from 2 to 1 with fairly low RPMs. Yes before a light or as I approach a stop sign. The best way to describe it is that it's like the engine/tranny isn't making enough compression to "hold" the gear. I know that that's not what is happening; it's an operational description. If I try the same downshift with greater RPMs it latches into 1 just fine. Yes, I am able to select 1 and drive away after coming to a complete stop.

Yup that's what I meant. Tried to go into first enough times when it didn't want to and it throws up a big F and does the limited gears available. I did not run codes since it was in the middle of a drive between towns on a club off roading weekend but it went away when I turned the truck off. Never came back again. Huh that is strange.
Ahhh....yeah I never tried to force it. Maybe once or twice more during any one lock-out. Now I just shake my head and accept it. I also try to downshift earlier when more RPMs are developed.
